RESTAURANTS

If you plan on having more than one beer or margarita, we suggest that you take a cab. The police take drinking and driving very seriously here and you don’t want to get arrested and spend the night in jail. Please call the security guard gatehouse to arrange a cab, usually there are a few parked outside the gate. (619) 955-7844

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITES:

OLLIES – K40.5A 10 minute walk or short drive, just 1 mile North of Las Gaviotas. Great pizzas and wine. They were sampling pasta to add to menu the last time I was there. www.olliesbrickovenpizza.com Wed-Sun 4pm to 10pm.

TACO SURF – K38A five minute drive, 3 miles North on west side of street. By far the best taco stand I’ve ever experienced. The carne asada tacos are my favorite thing to order, I highly recommend them. My son loves the carne asada torta, made on a fresh and tasty Mexican bun.

CALYPSO – K38 A five minute drive, 3 miles North on West side of street. Great place to visit that serves soulful Mediterranean cuisine and is located right next to Surf Taco. *They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner Wednesday through Sunday. I usually order the shrimp tacos and a margarita (on the rocks). They have indoor and outdoor seating. Live music on weekends. (760)533-8252 www.bajacalypso.com

K38 FISH AND SHRIMP TACOS – K38 A five minute drive 3 miles North on west side of street. We LOVE this fish taco stand. My favorite is the battered fish tacos!

LA FONDA - K58.5 A steakhouse located 15 minutes South of Las Gaviotas, on the free road, on the west side of the street. One of our all-time favorites. Beautiful setting, great margaritas and mariachis too!

BOBBIES ITALIAN RESTAURANT - This places serves up authentic Italian cuisine and Bobby is a great paisano host. He also has every sport game on all his TV's, great place if you're looking to watch your sport games and indulge in some excellent Italian food. It is located 1 km south of Las Gaviotas on the west side of the street.

EL NIDO - Steakhouse known for their Mesquite delight style cuisine. This restaurant is located in Rosarito Beach, if you take the main road, it is two blocks north of the Rosarito Beach Hotel on the west side of the street.

EL PESCADORE - This place is a must visit! It features alternative latin cuisine and is Argentinean owned. It is located 1.2 km south of Las Gaviotas on the west side of the street.

GAVIOTAS TAMALE HOUSE - Best tamales I have ever had! Pick up a dozen on your way in, the place is just south of the entrance to Las Gaviotas on the east side of the free road.

LOS PELICANOS - Place to go if you are looking for seafood. It is located in Rosarito, near the beach.

ORTEGA'S PATIO - Looking for lobster? Located in the Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village is Ortega's Patio. After entering Puerto Nuevo it's on the north side of the main drive into the village, second to last restaurant on your right.

PALM GRILL - This is a great Mexican dinner house. It's located on the north end of Cantamar on the west side of the street. It has a large thatch roof.

RANCHO SAN RAMON - for an upscale option, this is your place. White tablecloth, Mexican fare prepared by a French trained chef. Great place to go after golfing at the real del mar golf resort.

ROSARITO BEACH HOTEL - This is the place for Sunday brunch! There is a great jazz bar for some enjoyable entertaining while you dine. If time allows the spa here is excellent and worth the visit. The hotel is located at the very south end of the beach.

THE POINT AT CALAFIA- K35.5 Good views, good food and cocktails! Lunch and dinner.

BARS

HUSSONGS - Historic bar, it can be rowdy but it's world famous and timeless. It's located in Ensenada. A 50mile drive south.

PAPA'S & BEER - Known for being a party bar and you are sure to have a great time here. There is one in Rosarito Beach, and one in Ensenada next to Hussongs.

SPLASH - Great place to spend the evening. This place, also features a full bar and restaurant and they have great food. Live music and dancing. Fun crowd. 10 minute drive south on the free road at K52.

LAS ROCAS – Located 5 minutes north on west side of street. La Rocas Hotel has fun pool bar overlooking the pool and cliffs. We usually go in afternoon and get pitchers of margaritas, with chips, salsa and guacamole. If you’re nice, they will let you use the pool.

MARKETS / LIQUOR STORE

CALIMEX - This is a large super market type store, you can purchase any necessities here. It's located in the middle of town on the west side of the road in Rosarito.

LAS GAVIOTAS FISH MARKET - Fresh fish, shrimp, and an assortment of ceviches. It's only open on the weekends in the summer and is located right next to the pool.

WHITE HORSE - This is a local market and liquor store. It's located directly across the street from Las Gaviotas. Drive or walk, but be very careful crossing the road.

K38 LIQUOR STORE – good selection of Tequila. Also, pick up a Taco Surf T-shirt there too!

OTHER PLACES OF INTEREST

GIORGIO SANTINI GALLERY - This art gallery, hosted by Aldo Santini. This is a must see place. Along with the art there is an excellent wine and espresso bar. The gallery is located 1 km north of Las Gaviotas on the west side of the street.

INNER REEF SURF SHOP - This surf shop is located on the free road between Calafia and the Fox Studios on the west side of the road. Make sure to make your acquaintance with Roger, he is the artist. He can do repairs and crafts spectacular boards. You can also rent any kind of wave riding gear you may need.
